Description

We are looking for Clinic Nurse in our clinic based in Newcastle.

Responsibilities:

  • Assess, plan, prioritise and deliver patient care requirements, both physical and psychological. Seek advice and support from senior staff as required.
  • Ensure you work within your scope of knowledge and skills framework.
  • Following assessment of patients make referrals to other healthcare professionals as required. This includes, GP and Specialist Consultants (not an exhaustive list).
  • Alert Operations Coordinators about any urgent GP letters or similar that are required for patient assessment.
  • Update relevant milestones and GP details during the pre-operative period
  • Follow up and sign off any pathology results each day and ensure that the milestones on the patient journey are updated.
  • On receipt of any pathology results, reports or investigations ensure clinical treatment plan is agreed and keep their surgeon informed.
  • Carry out clinical procedures to care and manage patients as required and in line with policy / best practice guidance, ensuring optimal recovery to health for patient.
  • Ensure patients are clinically suitable for surgery, in accordance with protocols and guidelines.
  • Ensure surgeon’s protocol, care pathway and directions are followed and report variance to surgeon.
  • Ensure correct garments are ordered for patients as per clinical guidance and our policy
  • Ensure appropriate consumables are readily available for procedures performed in that clinical area.
  • Undertake monthly (minimum) stock take and document.
  • When undertaking post operative assessments, ensure a holistic assessment is undertaken, following surgeon preferences.
  • Perform wound care procedures following ANTT and current wound management best practice guidance.
  • Chaperone patients during the full examination and consultation by medical staff as and when required. Be mindful of culture and religion and ensuring privacy and dignity is always maintained. 
  • In accordance with individual patient care, undertake and record patient’s observations during each episode of physical care.
  • Obtain informed consent prior to taking pre and post-operative photographs.
  • Only use our equipment to take photographs and upload photographs.
  • Ensure all needs of patients under your care are met in agreement with the patient and that it is thoroughly documented on the system provided.
  • Provide advice and support to all patients and relatives with elements of their care, ensuring an empathetic approach in all situations.
